Imrana Jalal (Janam: 1960), jiske Patricia Jalal ke naam se bhi jaana jaae hae, Fiji ke ek Hindustani wakiil aur aurat log ke adhikaar khaatir larre waali activist hae.

Imrana Jalal ke janam, Fiji ke capital, Suva me bhais rahaa. Uske pitaji, Sayed Abdul, ek gariib palwaar ke rahaa lekin maiyaa, Rosemary Grant, ek dhani Isai Dharam ke palwwar ke rahii. [1] Uske parrhai St Joseph's Secondary School me bhais rahaa.[2] Iske baad uu New Zealand jaae ke University of Auckland se Bachelor aur Master of Law, 1983 me parr ke khalaas karis.

Jalal, 1986 me Fiji Women's Rights Movement ke ek founder member rahii aur abhi talak iske board me, non-Permanent Founding Member ke kaaran, baithe hae. Uu 1995 se 2010 talak Pacific Regional Rights Resource Team Office ke Chief Technical Advisor rahii. Uu 1999 se 2001 talak Fiji Human Rights Commission me ek Commissioner rahi. Uske Fiji ke Family Law Act 2003 ke 'architect' maana jaae hae. 2006 me uske International Commission of Jurists me ek Commissioner chuna gais rahaa aur 2011 se 2017 talak Commission ke Executive Board me rahii. Jalal, 2010 se 2017 talak Asian Development Bank me Principal Social Development Specialist (Gender and Development) rahi. 1 January 2018 me Jalal ke World Bank ke Inspection Panel me appoint karaa gais aur uu 16 December 2018 se 31 December 2021 talak Panel ke Chair rahi. Panel me uske term 31 December 2022 ke khalaas bhais.[4]

1998 me Jalal ek book likhis, jiske naam hae "Law for Pacific women: A legal rights handbook". Ii book saral bhasa me lika gais hae aur iske likhe ke khaas kaaran hae ki South Pacific me aurat log ke issue ke politicize karaa jaae. Jalal ke aapan sabd me "anger at the injustice that is caused to women in the Pacific, because they are women" (Pacific ke aurat log pe annay kahe ki uu log aurat hae). Ii book parrhe waala log ke dher jaankari ke saathe sahaj me chij khojaa jaae sake hae. Book aur issue ke bhi raise kare hae, jaise ke larrkan ke status. [5] Ii book University of the South Pacific ke Law School ke recommended text book hae.[6]

  • 2001 me Jalal, ke uske aurat log ke rights ke khatir kaam ke liye "70 people who shaped Fiji in the last hundred years" (70 log jon pichhle 100 saal me Fiji ke banain hae.) ke suchi me recognise karaa gais rahaa.[7]
  • 22 January 2023 ke Jalal , Australia, New Zealand aur Pacific Region ke pahila aurat rahi jiske World Jurist Association, Ruth Bader Ginsburg Medal of Honour milaa. [8]
